The Ministry of Justice plans to introduce 20 legislative reforms before the legislative body next year, Georgia’s Minister of Justice Thea Tsulukiani stated when answering the lawmakers’ questions today in Kutaisi Parliament.

Tsulukiani is among the nineteen Ministers who were automatically suspended from their powers since the resignation of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on December 23.

Before re-approved by the legislative body, like other candidates for ministerial posts, Tsulukiani had to answer the lawmakers’ questions and unfold her priorities, views and future intentions if confirmed by Parliament tomorrow.

When speaking about the legislative reforms the Minister focused on following directions:

  • New wave of reforms in the Notary Chamber;
  • Adoption of a new rule for interrogation of witnesses;
  • Legislative package against violence;
  • New rule of forming special districts during the elections;
  • Amendments in the registration rule for political parties;
  • New law for land registration;
  • Jury trial reform, and;
  • Amendments in the law for the children living and working on streets.

Together with the future intentions the Minister also highlighted the positives her body has reached in recent years.

According to the Georgian legislation after the resignation   of the Prime Minister Irakli Garibahsvili all the 19 Ministers of the Cabinet were automatically suspended from their power.

Since the majority candidate for the Prime Minister’s post, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, named the new Cabinet of Ministers, with only one new face in, the candidates for the ministerial posts must be approved by the Parliament to fulfill their jobs.
