Georgia has opened its first Honorary Consulate in Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city.
A special ceremony was attended by Georgia’s Ambassador to Lithuania Khatuna Salukvadze and by Lithuanian high officials from state ministries as well as Embassies and diplomatic corps.
The Consulate opened on December 11 but was only announced by the Ministry today.
Georgia’s Honorary Consul in Lithuania will be Kazimieras Musteikis, who said it was the Honorary Consulate’s role to further deepen the existing friendship between Georgia and Lithuania.
Salukvadze congratulated Musteikis on his appointment and said there was a tight, friendly bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Lithuania and now relations would deepen further.
Those who attended the Consulate’s opening ceremony said this provided new opportunities to deepen ties in tourism, trade and cultural fields.
