A new Bollywood movie is being filmed in Georgia in some of the country’s most scenic areas.
In April 2016 a film crew from India will come to Georgia and film in the Kakheti, Adjara, Svaneti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.
Today Georgia’s Minister of Finance Nodar Khaduri hosted Bollywood producer and director Abbas Mastan at his Tbilisi office.
Khaduri promised the Indian filmmaker the Georgian Government would support his filming process in Georgia, and he expressed his desire that the Bollywood film would help raise Georgia’s profile as a premiere filming destination.
Before now Bollywood film representatives have come to Georgia several times to carry out detailed research of Georgia’s filming potential and current industry. The guests said the support offered from the Government of Georgia was one of the deciding factors for choosing Georgia.
This year the state has worked hard to encourage international filmmakers to come to Georgia and shoot their films here.
In July this year the Government launched the 'Film in Georgia' initiative to develop the local film industry and get Georgia on the map as an international filming location. The initiative was part of the state program ‘Produce in Georgia’, which supported entrepreneurship and worked to increase the country’s export potential.
Filmmakers who chose to shoot feature films, television movies, drama series, soap operas, animations and documentary films in Georgia were supported by the Government, who pledged to cover 20 percent of the filming costs.
