Georgia-Israel relationship deepens

The 2600-year-old friendship between Georgia and Israel has been given a boost following a meeting between the head of Georgian Government and Deputy Chairman of Israeli Knesset.

The possibility of deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and Israel was heavily discussed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Yehiel Hilik Bar, who is also the Secretary-General of Labour Party of Israel.

The sides positively welcomed a new phase of Georgia-Israel relations and discussed the newly implemented visa free entry regime, and expressed their hope that this action would support and extend the two countries’ relations in terms of economy, tourism and trade.

The politicians discussed the importance of exchange programs in education and culture. The prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary relations were also outlined.

As it was noted at the meeting, the anniversary date for the 2600 year old friendship between Georgia and Israel was rapidly approaching and the countries should prepare to celebrate the enduring friendship. The anniversary is scheduled be held on October 21-23 this year.

The meeting, held in Tbilisi, was also attended by the assistant of the deputy chairman of Knesset Bostan Doron, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel in Georgia Yuval Fuchs and the first deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Manana Kobakhidze.
