Russia’s actions are endangering territorial integrity of Ukraine, says Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvil in response to the "extremely dangerous" developments in Ukraine.

Margvelashvili said it was "unacceptable" that a state’s fate and its future and territorial integrity was decided by a forceful intervention of another country.

"Today, developments in Ukraine, particularly in Crimea, made an extremely dangerous turn. Russia’s distribution of passports on the territory of the other country [Ukraine], reinforcement of military infrastructure and contingent, and the decision to defend "the interests of compatriots” living in Ukraine with armed forces, represents a flagrant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state, which contradicts the foundation [principles] of the UN and OSCE, disregards basic principles of international law and endangers territorial integrity of Ukraine," he said.

"It is unacceptable that a state’s fate, its future and territorial integrity is decided by a forceful intervention of another country. We call upon the international community to prevent new conflict in Europe, use all means to avoid the possibility of aggression and maintain Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity."
