PM Garibashvili rubs shoulders with world leaders in New York

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is mingling with world leaders at high-level receptions within the 69th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Garibashvili and his wife Nunuka Tamazashvili attended an official reception held on behalf of the former president of the United States (US) Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary on Monday. The event was attended by representatives of world political and cultural elite.

Earlier, the Georgian leader also attended an official reception held on behalf of President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Prime Minister was scheduled to attend a number of meetings in New York today. As New York was eight hours behind Tbilisi, the Georgian leader had yet to meet Latvian President Andris Berzins and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite but would do so in the next few hours as the day progressed in America.

According to his official schedule, on Tuesday afternoon Garibashvili was scheduled to speak at the UN Climate Summit after which he would attend the Clinton Global Initiative event titled Cities as Labs of Innovation.

Later that evening Garibashvili will again meet the Turkish President, after which the Georgian leader and his wife will head to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) to attend the Georgian film retrospective.

After this the Georgian pair will attend an evening reception held on behalf of US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

The Georgian leader is expected to return home on September 27.
