Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili is on his way to New York to participate in a special session of the 69th United Nations General Assembly.
Garibashvili, who is accompanied by with his wife, will deliver a speech at the session, titled "The issues on implementation of the international conference on Population and Development Programme”.
In America the Georgian leader has been invited to a reception hosted by former US president Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton, former US Secretary of State.
According to the Prime Ministers’ agenda, tomorrow he will meet Lithuanian President Dalia Gribauskaites and Turkish President Rejef Tayyip Erdogan. He will also deliver a speech at the Climate Change Summit.
In addition, he is scheduled to attend the Clinton Global Plenary Session - Cities as Labs of Innovation/ Remarks by President Obama "Stand with Civil Society Agenda".
He will also open the first retrospective show of Georgian films at the world famous Museum of Modern Art.
At the end of the day Prime Minister Garibashvili will attend a reception hosted by President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, held in honour of the heads of delegations and their wives participating in the 69th UN General Assembly Session.
The following day, September 24, PM Garibashvili will attend a reception hosted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon followed by the opening of the General Debate Session.
Furthermore, PM Garibashvili will deliver speech at the ‘Invest Georgia’ Global Investment Symposium, organised by the International Economic Alliance (IEA) and ‘Open Government Partnership’.
At the end of the day Garibashvili would likely attend a reception in honour of the Secretary General, organised on behalf of the European Commission, the European Council and United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Al Nahayan Zaed.
The PM’s schedule noted on September 25 Garibashvili will lay a wreath at the memorial in remembrance of those died in the September 11 terrorist acts.
While abroad Garibashvili is also scheduled to meet Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al Fayzal, European Council President Hermann van Rompuy, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan in Rouen, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and representatives from global infrastructure company AECOM.
The Prime Minister will also attend an official dinner held on behalf of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
