Georgia has been given the honour of Vice Chairman of the ongoing 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The country will hold this position for one year, Georgia’s Foreign Ministry said.
With this role Georgia, along with the General Assembly President, will take part in the construction of the Assembly's agenda.
The Head of the Georgian mission to the UN will have a seat in the presidium and will lead individual sessions.
The 69th regular UNGA session convened at the UN headquarters on September 16. The General Debate opened yesterday, September 23.
A Georgian delegation, led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, was among a number of foreign delegations attending the session in New York.
