5 tonnes of cannabis seized in Georgia

Georgian police are celebrating a massive drug bust after authorities seized more than five tonnes of cannabis in the countries east.

Law enforcment officers arrested a 30 year old man who had made a special greenhouse in Uzuntala village in Georgia’s Kakheti region where he managed to produce and cultivate the illicit plants.

More than 5,280kg of cannabis was found in the search, police said.

The accused has already pled guilty to the crime.

An investigation has been launched into illicit sowing, growing or cultivating of plants containing narcotics in large quantities.
