Georgia's President and Prime Minister are sending their congratulations to the people of Ukrainian for showing their determination to vote in the Presidential election and decide their own future.

Speaking about Sunday's elections, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said the elections had been held in a peaceful atmosphere and he wished the country stability and peace.

He also gave his first piece of kind advice to the new President, Petro Poroshenko, which was not to employ former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili as an advisor.

"My friendly advice would be… to keep Saakashvili at bay,” Garibashvili commented for local media representatives during his walk down on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, marking the Independence Day on May 26.

Last night Poroshenko told reporters his advisor would be Georgian but he refrained from naming specific names.

Meanwhile, President Giorgi Margvelahsvili said the Georgian government supported Ukrainian's newly elected government.

"I believe this election will hell stabilize not only Uraine but the whole of Europe,” he told local media.

Exit polls suggested the candy tycoon was elected as Ukraine's president on Sunday in the first round of voting in the divided country. He vowed "to bring peace to the Ukrainian land."

The exit polls, conducted by three respected Ukrainian survey agencies, found 48-year-old Poroshenko gained 55.9 percent of the vote in the field of 21 candidates.
