Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday highlighted “great prospects” of his Government working with United Arab Emirates institutions and companies, indicating interest in further deepening the relations.

During his visit to Dubai, where he is featuring in the World Governments Summit, the PM also said he had “seen the same interest” from Emirati partners.

We reviewed investment projects which are being implemented jointly, and thanked the Emir [Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE] in general for his support and warm attitude towards our country”, Kobakhidze said.

The head of the Georgian Government also added he had met the Abu Dhabi Ports Group to discuss a “large investment” of the Group for a dry port project to be built in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi, with the official opening scheduled this year.

We were introduced to the work of the [Group]. We have a joint, very important project which is being implemented, and there is also interest in operating in our country in other directions as well. We expressed our full readiness to deepen cooperation as much as possible”, he noted.

The meeting also touched on prospects for further expanding cooperation with the Group in “strategic logistics and transport projects”, the Government Administration said.
