Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday claimed “certain forces” were engaged in a “coordinated attempt to harm the vital interests” of the country in response to the opening of an investigation on Monday by the Prosecutor General’s Office into allegations of attempted sabotage and foreign interference in Georgia.
“Beyond legal assessments and politically looking at the events unfolding over recent years, we see there is a coordinated attempt to harm our country’s vital interests. Of course, the forces in question are not succeeding, but such attempts are already punishable”, Kobakhidze noted.
In his comments for the press, the PM also pointed out there were “direct talks about artificially inducing an economic crisis”, portraying it a “completely coordinated effort too”.
The head of the Government noted the investigation into the alleged attempt was “absolutely relevant” and the country’s Prosecutor’s Office and eventually, the court would “establish the rest [of the facts]”.
