Georgian Parliament Committee Chair, Philippines National Defence Secretary discuss ties

Aleksandre Tabatadze, the Chair of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament, and Gilberto Teodoro, the Secretary of National Defence of the Philippines, on Thursday discussed potential areas for further cooperation in defence between the two countries, during the former's visit to Manila, the Parliament said.

“I had a productive meeting with the Secretary of National Defence of the Republic of the Philippines. We discussed regional security issues, existing challenges, and their impact”, Tabatadze noted.

The Committee Chair added “we exchanged information on defence and security sector reforms implemented in both countries in recent years. There was a shared commitment to deepening cooperation, and we emphasised the importance of increasing high-level visits in the future”.

Tabatadze expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Philippines for its support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During his working visit to the Philippines, Tabatadze attended a parliamentary forum on intelligence and security matters and held meetings with representatives of the country's executive authorities.
