Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday highlighted Kazakhstan as an “economically significant partner” for the country, with untapped potential that “still needs to be better utilised and developed”.

In her remarks ahead of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to the country, Botchorishvili emphasised that Kazakhstan was playing a “key role” as a partner for Georgia in the East.

It is a particularly important partner in the context of Georgia’s declared priority to serve as a crucial link between East and West. From this perspective, collaboration with countries that are key participants in connectivity projects is essential”, the FM said.

She further stressed the importance of holding “high-level” visits and meetings, discussing cooperation across various sectors, and identifying areas where “we can strengthen our collaboration”.

This will be a key topic in discussions with our Kazakh partners and friends - to precisely identify the sectors where our interests align and enhance cooperation so that Georgia’s potential is fully leveraged, and the partnership benefits both countries”, she concluded.

As part of the two-day visit, Kobakhidze will meet with his Kazakh counterpart both in one-on-one and  expanded formats.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will also host the Georgian Prime Minister at the Presidential Palace.
