The National Wine Agency of Georgia on Monday announced a series of showcases for domestic wine at events to be hosted in Tokyo, Madrid, and Paris this year.
The first of the events will take place in the Japanese capital, where Georgian wine will be featured at a “special presentation”, the body added. Following the event, the products will make their way to the Spanish capital, where local companies will participate in the Madrid Fusión Gastro Congress.
The Agency said a dedicated Georgian wine tasting seminar was scheduled to be held during the Congress, alongside a stand organised by the National Tourism Administration that would showcase both wines and culinary traditions of the country.
In early February, the spotlight will shift to Paris, where Georgian wine producers will engage with audiences at the RAW Wine international natural wine exhibition and the VineExpo Paris international wine and spirits exhibition.
Georgian wine will be featured in several “strategic markets” this year, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, the Baltic countries, China and South Korea, the Agency said, adding domestic producers would “actively participate” in “all major” international wine and alcoholic beverage fairs throughout the year.
The promotional efforts for Georgian wine this year will benefit from an increased budget of ₾17.4 million ($6.15mln), which is ₾1.4 million ($490,000) more than the previous year, the Agency said.
The past year saw a “record-breaking” export revenue of $565 million from the sale of wine and alcoholic beverages - a 24 percent increase compared to 2023, the body added.
