Georgian FM says “best is yet to come” in relations with US in message on Marco Rubio’s appointment as Secretary of State

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Tuesday congratulated Marco Rubio on his appointment as the United States Secretary of State by saying “the best is yet to come” in relations between the two countries.

“I very much look forward to fostering cooperation and strengthening ties between our two countries under your leadership”, the FM said in a social media message.

The United States Senate on Monday unanimously approved the appointment of Rubio as the new Secretary of State. He received 99 votes in favour, with no votes against and no abstentions.

Rubio is the first person of Latin American origin to hold the position.
