Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday expressed optimism that his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev earlier during the day would “further strengthen” ties between the two nations.
In a post shared on social media, Kobakhidze also highlighted “productive discussions” held during the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in Baku.
We engaged in a productive dialogue on key bilateral and regional issues and highlighted the importance of our strategic partnership”, the PM noted. “I am confident that this meeting will pave the way for further strengthening our cooperation and achieving our mutual objectives”.
Kobakhidze also expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani President and Prime Minister for “their warm welcome and hospitality” after the completion of the visit, emphasising the significance of strengthening bilateral relations.
The further development of these relations and our friendship is of utmost importance to us. It holds strategic significance not only for us but, I am confident, for Azerbaijan as well. I would like to personally thank President Aliyev once again for his unwavering support for Georgia and the Georgian people, as well as for his contributions to the enhancement of Georgian-Azerbaijani relations”, the PM said.
The Georgian delegation was on the visit in Baku on Friday, while Maka Botchorishvili, the Georgian Foreign Minister, arrived in Azerbaijan on Thursday on her first official visit in the capacity.
