Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Friday highlighted their governments’ “successful” collaboration in economy, transport and energy, and emphasised the importance of connectivity and Georgia’s role in the efforts, during a meeting at the Zuğulba Presidential Palace in Baku.

The Georgian Government Administration said the two leaders further discussed the existing “strategic partnership”, with a particular focus on collaboratively advancing “regionally significant” projects.

Kobakhidze thanked Aliyev for hosting his delegation “at a high level”, emphasising the partnership between the two countries was “built on a very solid foundation”.

In his turn, Aliyev congratulated Kobakhidze on the ruling Georgian Dream party's recent victory in the parliamentary elections, the Administration said.

The meeting particularly emphasised that peace and security were “important” in the South Caucasus, with Kobakhidze reiterating his Government’s readiness to “contribute to future peace and stability” in the wider region.
