Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the officials of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Thursday discussed “fruitful cooperation”, as well as the October parliamentary elections and current developments in the country.
During the meeting, we exchanged meaningful insights and explored opportunities for further collaboration. Our discussion focused on key topics, including our democratic reform agenda and the Council of Europe's role in Georgia’s European path”, the PM noted.
Kobakhidze briefed the PACE Monitoring Committee members on the political situation created in the country after the elections and the relevant steps taken by the state agencies to control the process, the Government Administration said.
At the meeting, the head of the Government also highlighted the domestic opposition’s “attempts to sabotage the state system”, stressing “deliberate attempts to weaken the country's most important institutions” would be met with an “appropriate response”.
