Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Sunday expressed confidence that circumstances “may change very soon and opportunities may emerge” to normalise her Government’s relations with the country’s Western partners.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Botchorishvili noted the Government was “not satisfied with the current state of relations” with the European Union and the United States.
The Minister also commented on parliamentary groups of the German Bundestag “spreading false information” about a long-term monitoring mission of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe having been refused entry to the country during the parliamentary elections held last October.
This is also the choice of our partners, what they want - whether they want to see the truth and return relations to a normal mode, or create an alternative reality that they create with such disinformation or incorrect information, and then strengthen it”, she said.
“This also serves a purpose. Today, there is a situation that is unfavourable, and no one is satisfied with the state of relations between Georgia and the European Union, or between Georgia and the United States”, the FM continued.
She further added the Georgian Government was “deeply convinced” that the situation could change, with a “different situation arising for the normalisation of relations”, allowing to bring the relations back to a “framework needed for our partnership”.
