Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday told a conference organised by the Georgian Business Association the country had “strong institutions” that were able to “protect national interests unwaveringly and firmly”.
Kobakhidze said the country and its Government had “withstood the pressure” and “able to maintain both state strength and peace” despite “serious attempts” to disrupt the political stability by involving it in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
He said the ruling Georgian Dream party had “solid positions and strong support of 55 to 60 percent” from citizens, as “confirmed by sociological studies” conducted last year.
Mainly, two factors determine the strong support of the population towards our team. This is keeping peace [...] [where] people see what is happening around us, that there are many hotspots in the world [...] [A]nd the second factor [...] is economic growth, economic progress, which naturally affects the social conditions of the population”, he added.
The PM also said the Government could make a “very firm promise” to both the public and businesses that it would “maintain peace, political stability and a high rate of economic growth”.
We have all the grounds to steadily, firmly continue to ensure progress and development of our country”, he noted.
Kobakhidze also reaffirmed the Government’s “full readiness of openness with business and readiness of close cooperation” with the Association.
