Pope Francis has sent his “warm greetings” to the Georgian people and the Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II, the Georgian Embassy in the Holy See said on Tuesday.
The Pope received the members of the Diplomatic Corps in the Hall of Blessings and addressed the audience, focusing on international issues in his speech, the Holy See press office said.
Ilia II, the Catholicos Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church and religious leaders from the Church on Wednesday met foreign diplomats to discuss the anticipated granting of the European Union membership candidate status to the country.
