Irakli Karkashadze, the Director of the United Airports of Georgia, said no explosives had been found onboard the Wizz Air jet that was forced into abortive landing after departing western Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport for Barcelona on Wednesday.
Speaking to the press, the official said the flight had been rescheduled for departure at 7 pm local time, with passengers having already completed check-in and awaiting departure.
All previously delayed flights have been rescheduled and will be gradually reinstated”, Karkashadze said, adding the airport had resumed normal operations and was prepared to receive incoming aircraft.
“No other flights have experienced delays related to this specific incident”, he said, noting security agencies were expected to make comments on the circumstances of the flight that was turned back by the crew after being warned by the airline.
