Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in his interview with the Azerbaijani TV channel on Friday claimed his Government managed to bring “great success” to Georgia, adding the [ruling] team would do its “utmost to ensure the country develops even more in future”.
We [Georgia] and Azerbaijan have very similar challenges. I listened carefully to President Aliyev’s speech at the COP [the ministerial of the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan held in November]. He [Aliyev] was talking about the challenges Azerbaijan is facing and they are practically identical, very similar to the challenges that we, Georgia, are facing”, he said.
We have been in power for 12 years now, during these 12 years we have been able to bring great success to our country, both in terms of democratic development, as well as in terms of human rights and economic development, we have made very serious progress”, he added.
The head of the Government further noted that the ruling Georgian Dream administration had an experienced team, which he said had “accumulated experience” over years, adding over the past four years, the average economic growth per year had been 9.8 percent in the country, which “is one of the highest rates in the world”.
Kobakhidze also stated his Government was “actively working to ensure that the country eventually becomes a member of the EU”, and noted the country’s accession to the bloc by 2030 was “realistic”, adding the state would fulfil 90 percent of EU-related obligations under the Association Agreement agenda by 2028.
