Georgia’s November inflation reaches 2% in EU methodology

The National Statistics Office of Georgia on Tuesday said domestic inflation for November, calculated using the European Union methodology, had stood at two percent - 0.7 percent higher than the 1.3 percent inflation calculated using the national methodology.

The Office said when breaking down inflation rates based on the EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices methodology, the adjusted percentage  compared to the corresponding period in 2023 were as follows:

  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages: 3.1%
  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: 5.2%
  • Clothing and shoes: 1.7%
  • Housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of heating: -3.7%
  • Furniture, household items and decorations, home care and repair: -0.2%
  • Healthcare: 2.8%
  • Transport: 2.1%
  • Communication: -12.5%
  • Leisure, entertainment and culture: -2.2%
  • Education: 5.3%
  • Hotels, cafés and restaurants: 8.5%
  • Various goods and services: 6.3%

The Office began publishing figures using the EU indicator in 2022.
