Tbilisi City Court on Thursday rejected lawsuits filed by the Unity - National Movement opposition platform, Strong Georgia opposition coalition, and Georgian Young Lawyers' Association, that claimed violations of vote secrecy during parliamentary elections held in the country last month and requested to declare the results annulled.
The plaintiffs had claimed a number of pieces of evidence, including photo and video materials, alleging the country’s Central Election Commission had violated the secrecy of ballot procedure during the vote.
The court ruled the secrecy of polling stations had not been violated after considering the parties' arguments, rejecting over 10 motions submitted during the hearing and citing “insufficient justification”.
The court reached its decision following a 13-hour hearing, with the plaintiffs announcing their intention to appeal the ruling.
