Russian occupation forces illegally detained two Georgian citizens near the occupied village of Tsnelisi in Kareli Municipality in central Georgia, the country’s State Security Service said on Tuesday.
The state body noted it had immediately informed co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions - a platform for talks on consequences of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war - and international partners about the detention.
The SSS also added it had activated “all existing mechanisms” to ensure the release of the illegally detained citizens “as soon as possible”.
