Georgia’s Election Commission Chair discusses parliamentary vote with ENEMO representatives

Developments since the parliamentary elections held last month in Georgia and matters surrounding the vote were discussed on Monday in a meeting between Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the Chair of the Central Election Commission of the country, Zlatko Vujović, the Head of the mission of the European Network of Election Observing Organisations, and other representatives of the mission tasked with observing the elections.

Kalandarishvili briefed the mission representatives on the administration's response to allegations and a “disinformation campaign” that he said had emerged since the elections, and emphasised the CEC's commitment to transparency.

In his comments, the Chair of the Commission noted the election administration had been “actively engaging with international observer organisations to share findings and recommendations from their observations”, with the initiative “solely aimed at enhancing the electoral environment”.

On their part, the mission representatives presented the preliminary findings and recommendations of their election report, where the CEC said they “positively evaluated” the administration's work and activities, and expressed their gratitude to the administration for its cooperation and the coordinated exchange of information.
