Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday highlighted European integration as a “top priority” of his Government.

In his remarks at a Government meeting, Kobakhidze noted the expectations of “rebooting relations” with Western partners, which he claimed would take place “in an intensive mode” starting early next year.

We have very important foreign policy priorities and the top priority is, naturally, European integration. We expect a reboot of relations, which we think will take place in an intensive mode from the beginning of next year”, the PM said.

“The ambitious goal of the Government is to fulfil over 90 percent of the obligations under the Association and Free Trade Agreement [with the EU] by 2028, which ensures that Georgia will become a member of the European Union by 2030”, he continued.

He further stressed that the country’s development “in all directions” and especially the growth of the economy was “of “utmost importance” for reaching the outcome.
