Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday highlighted his Government’s “respect for the principle of secularism” as enshrined in the Constitution of the country.

Kobakhidze stressed the state and the church were “separated from each other”, and added the relationship, including between the Government and the church, was “based on this principle”.

As for the relationship between the state and the church, naturally, they are separated. We respect the principle of secularism outlined in the Constitution, and relations between the state, Government, and church are built on this foundation”, he said.
