US Embassy rejects media reports on sanctions against Georgian Dream Honorary Chair, family

The United States Embassy in Georgia on Thursday rejected reports by the Georgian opposition-leaning Formula TV channel that said sanctions had been placed by the US Government against Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chair and founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party and his family members. 

In its comments for the domestic media, the diplomatic mission highlighted the US Treasury Department “publicly publishes all financial sanctions”, challenging the information released by the media outlet the previous day that cited a “reliable source” for the information.
