Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said the ongoing pre-election process was “drastically different” from previous examples and was ongoing in a “calm” environment.
In his remarks about the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26, Kaladze claimed “certain” electoral subjects had “nothing to say to citizens” and were conducting their campaigns “at specific foreign embassies” instead.
Now everyone has the opportunity to go out and meet citizens [ahead of the elections]. Many [electoral subjects] cannot do this - what conscience they have left to face citizens? What would they say to them?”, the ruling party official alleged.
Kaladze stressed citizens would “give [the parties] an appropriate answer” on election day.
