Georgia’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday rejected media reports that said David Zalkaliani, the country’s Ambassador to the United States, had resigned, by calling them “fake”.
In a statement, the Ministry stressed the reports were “unfounded” and “lacked any basis in fact”.
The opposition-leaning Mtavari channel on Wednesday claimed Zalkaniani had resigned following an alleged disagreement with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze over the withdrawal of an invitation of the PM to a reception hosted by the US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly 79th session in New York this week.
