Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday dismissed the possibility of a crisis similar to that following the 2020 Parliamentary elections, emphasising the current Government was “strongly” fulfilling its duties.
“The state is performing its duties very effectively, including law enforcement efforts. The Georgian public has witnessed this over recent months. No one can create a crisis. If anyone is contemplating a repeat of the post-2020 election events, they should abandon such plans. That attempt is doomed to failure, as you cannot step into the same river twice”, Kobakhidze told the press.
The ruling Georgian Dream party has frequently accused the domestic opposition of sparking an “artificial crisis” after the 2020 elections, claiming they had used “fake” parallel vote tabulation results by the non-governmental organisation International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy to cause turmoil.
