Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed the “Global War Party” - a reference used to unspecified political forces in the West who allegedly seek to create a revolutionary scenario in Georgia and involve the country into opening a “second front” amid the ongoing war in Ukraine - was enjoying a “serious influence on specific bodies”, including in the United States.
Kobakhidze’s comments came after Matthew Miller, the Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, on Tuesday said the Georgian Government continued to move in a “deeply troubling” direction with the implementation of the law on transparency of foreign influence.
The Global War Party has a serious influence on specific bodies, including in the United States. Unfortunately, this includes the State Department, and therefore we hear such messages, which is very sad”, the PM claimed in response.
“The most important thing for us is to protect our national interests, and the most important thing for us is that the country does not end up in the situation that our friendly country, Ukraine, found itself in”, he continued.
The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the influence of the “Global War Party” on state bodies would “definitely weaken from next year”.
