Russian-controlled forces illegally detained a Georgian citizen in an area adjacent to the town of Akhalgori in the occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region in the central part of the country, the State Security Service said on Wednesday.
The body said it had responded to the incident by activating the hotline operated for information exchange on developments along the occupation line and informing international partners, including the co-chair of the Geneva International Discussions.
The Service said “every available mechanism” had been activated to release the illegally detained citizen as soon as possible.
