Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the country occupied “leading” positions in "all objective" international indices, indicating the “fundamental progress” having been achieved by Georgia since 2012.
Georgia has been named among the 20 European countries with an electoral democracy by the Global Change Data Lab, an international research organisation, the Prime Minister told a press briefing held in the ruling party’s office.
“We have established a practice of holding democratic elections. As you remember, until 2012 the elections were totally rigged by the [United National Movement party’s] authoritarian regime. [And] since 2012, Georgia has been holding democratic, competitive, fair, and free elections, and, of course, the mentioned index reflects this,” Kobakhidze added.
