Georgia has been added to the list of countries recognised by Ireland for driving licence exchange purposes following a memorandum signed between Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ireland’s Ministry of Transport and the Road Safety Authority, the Ministry said on Wednesday.
Effective since late last month, the agreement allows holders of valid driving licences issued by either country to exchange them for a driving licence of equivalent validity based on their permanent residence without having to go through theoretical or practical tests.
Citizens of Georgia with permanent residence in Ireland for at least 185 days a year can make use of an online application or the National Driving License Service to exchange their driving licences.
The agreement applies to AM, A1, A2, A, B, BE, C1, C, D1, D1E, D, DE, CE and C1E vehicle categories.
