Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, highlighted the “well-established” financial system in the country and the dynamic of its leading banks making “significant strides” in expanding across the region while speaking at the Point Zero Forum, an event focusing on financial technology in Zurich this week.
The National Bank cited Turnava as noting domestic banks were listed on the London Stock Exchange, bolstering their international reputation and credibility.
She also emphasised the role of innovations in driving the development of financial services and highlighted the projects implemented by the National Bank.
Turnava underscored the significance of the NBG in promoting the fintech ecosystem beyond Georgia and emphasised the international achievements of Georgian commercial banks with focus on their “technological adaptability” and the “innovative, exportable nature” of their services.
Looking forward, Turnava expressed the National Bank’s commitment to continuing
“proactive regulatory policies”, developing “cutting-edge fintech infrastructure” and forging international partnerships to strengthen financial innovations.
Running between Monday and Wednesday, the Forum brought together central bank representatives from various countries, regulators and industry leaders.
