Finance Ministry investigators arrest one for fraudulent impersonation of official

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Finance Ministry on Tuesday said it had arrested one individual for attempted appropriation of money from a citizen through impersonation of a state Parole Commission official.

The Service said its investigation had found the offender had received $2,700 from the victim after impersonating an official of the body and promising to ensure release of a convict.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment from four to seven years.
