Ruling party official says Georgia-US strategic partnership will be “restarted”, “further deepened”

Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Sunday said Georgia and the United States had “strategic partnership and friendship”, which would further “be restarted and become much more friendly”.
He also stressed the friendship with the US would deepen more, and Georgia’s movement towards Europe would continue.
“I would like to emphasise that our path is Europe, the European future, European integration, and on this path Georgian Dream [the ruling party] has achieved the greatest victory [receiving the EU membership candidate status last year] together with the citizens of our country”, Kaladze noted.
The party official also added notwithstanding “the pressure and attempts to create problems” for the country, “we will continue on this [European] path with dignity” and become a member of the European family.
Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday highlighted the ruling party’s “commitment to the interests of the country” following the United States’ decision to impose visa restrictions on members of the Georgian Dream party following its adoption of the controversial law on transparency of foreign influence.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday claimed relations between Georgia and the United States needed a “reboot and improvement”, adding his Government would “do everything” for the purpose.
Matthew Miller, the Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, on Wednesday said the US Government’s review of its relationship with Georgia in response to adoption of the controversial law on transparency of foreign influence included potential sanctions and visa restrictions.
The ruling Georgian Dream party on Tuesday said upgrading the country’s relations with the United States was “completely up to correct actions of the American side”.
