Alexander Khvtisiashvili, the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, on Thursday said visa-free travel with China was a “logical continuation” of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Khvtisiashvili highlighted that the relationship between China and Georgia was developing “quite dynamically”, confirmed by signing the strategic partnership document last year and the free trade agreement.

In his comments to the Imedi TV channel, the Deputy FM noted that visa-free travel with China would contribute to the growth of tourist flows from China to Georgia and vice versa, increasing the frequency of direct flights between the countries.

Regional cooperation with China is “an important direction” and will bring “additional economic results” in Georgia, Khvtisiashvili emphasised and highlighted several visits of Chinese delegations to Georgia, adding the number of such visits was expected to increase “by the end of the year”.
