Tajikistan’s Somon Air enters Georgian air market

Tajikistan’s national airline Somon Air performed its first regular flight to Tbilisi International Airport from its capital of Dushanbe to the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on Wednesday, TAV Georgia said.
The Dushanbe-Tbilisi flight is opening for the first time, and we are happy to build an air bridge between the two countries, which will certainly bring the two peoples closer, Abdulkosim Valiev, Chief Executive Officer of Somon Air noted and stressed that this regular flight would “give impetus” to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Georgia.

Somon Air has been successfully operating in the international aviation market since 2008, performing regular and charter flights in 25 countries.
The Ministry of Economy of Georgia on Wednesday said 13,600 flights with connections to Georgia were scheduled for the coming summer season, including 2,480 to and from Europe.
Korean Air, South Korea’s largest airline based on fleet size, international destinations and flights, is set to perform seasonal charter flights to Georgia, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency said on Tuesday.
Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Tuesday said the domestic tourism industry had recorded a “historic high” revenue of $807.7 million in the first quarter of this year, exceeding the pre-pandemic levels of 2019 by 39.6 percent and marking a 1.5 percent year-on-year increase.
The Dutch low-cost airline Transavia has started operating direct flights between Amsterdam and Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi from April, the United Airports of Georgia announced on Sunday.
