Georgian Finance Minister features at EBRD annual meeting in Yerevan

Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili is participating in the annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Yerevan, Armenia, between Tuesday and Thursday.

The Ministry said a panel titled Georgia on the Global Stage: Opening Investment Opportunities was held within the EBRD annual meeting, featuring a presentation by Ekaterine Guntsadze, the Deputy Minister of Finance, on the country’s economic situation. 

The discussion also included Alkis Drakinos, the Regional Director of the EBRD in the South Caucasus, Archil Gachechiladze, the General Director of the Bank of Georgia, Giorgi Tsikolia, the Vice President of the Lineate company and Levan Vepkhvadze, the Executive Director of the Georgian Business Association.

The panel focused on Georgia’s competitive advantages, such as its strategic location and growing industries that the participants said were “open to global investment”, including transportation, technology, tourism and renewable energy.

The participants also discussed achievement of sustainable economic growth in the country, noting Georgia’s status of a candidate country for European Union membership, which they said represented a “significant milestone” in its path to EU integration and created “more opportunities for regional connectivity”.
