Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday discussed the country’s European integration with Jean-François Rapin, the Head of the European Affairs Committee of the French Senate.
Papuashvili “positively assessed” the existing parliamentary relations between the two countries, including connections between committees and friendship groups of the two bodies.
In his turn, Rapin confirmed France's “firm support” for Georgia's “European future”.
The Parliament press office also said the parties reviewed “latest developments” in Georgia and the wider region.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday highlighted the importance of the visit of the top French diplomat to the country, and noted that France was an “unwavering” partner in building the country's “European future”.
Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's European Union Integration Committee, on Friday said France was an “important partner” with a “particular importance” in shaping positions of the European Union, ahead of the visit of the French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna to Georgia.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said he was confident the country would have “solid support” from France in taking political decisions regarding Georgia’s European Union candidacy.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday highlighted the “positive dynamics” of ties with France in his meeting with the French counterpart Catherine Colonna.
