Hungarian PM says Georgian counterpart has “managed to maintain national identity, culture despite challenges”

Viktor Orbán, the Hungarian Prime Minister, on Thursday told the opening session of the Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual event hosted this year in Budapest, Hungary, that his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze had “managed to maintain Georgia’s national identity and culture despite challenges”.

Orbán told the event Kobakhidze was regarded for being a “great chess player” in the country’s domestic politics, as chess was a “geopolitical game” in the “centuries-old history” of Georgia.

Despite all the challenges, the power, how to maintain the national identity and culture in the country, this is really the skill of a chess player, a grandmaster”, he said.
