Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the Georgian National Bank, on Friday discussed ongoing “large” infrastructure projects in the country in a meeting with Alfonso García Mora, the International Finance Corporation's Vice President for Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

At the meeting, held as part of annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in the United States, the sides also reviewed the “rapid and significant” growth of tourism and “unprecedentedly high” performance in the construction and IT sectors in the country, the National Bank said.

The Georgian officials, including the country’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, emphasised that IT was a “rapidly developing” sector in the Georgian market, adding it “successfully” attracted the attention of investors.

The parties also referred to the current status of the secured bond market and discussed the next steps planned in this regard.

Mora assured the members of the Georgian delegation of the IFC’s readiness for further assistance for the country.

The meeting also involved Ekaterine Mikabadze, the Vice Governor of the NBG, Ekaterine Guntsadze and Mirza Gelashvili, the deputy ministers of Finance.
