Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the Parliament, on Monday claimed its approval rating was “at a historic high” point, while the public support for the domestic opposition’s was “at an all-time low”.
In his remarks over the matter, Ionatamishvili claimed the ruling party was enjoying a 60-percent support among voters.
The ruling team’s approval rating is 60 percent, while the opposition has a total of 17 percent. They face the risks of [not] crossing the five percent election threshold, including the [opposition] United National Movement [party]”, the lawmaker said.
“If the opposition parties with an approval rating of one percent believe that the Georgian Dream party has no rating, it is all the worse for them”, Ionatamishvili added.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday claimed the ruling Georgian Dream party was enjoying a “solid” approval rating of “about 60 percent” in the public ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October.
Kobakhidze claimed presence of higher number of parties with approval ratings of “two or three percent” in the domestic opposition would help the ruling team secure a constitutional majority in the elections.
