Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili on Friday highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in “increasing the country's competitiveness and ensuring rapid economic development”, in comments at an event organised by the USAID Economic Governance Programme earlier today.

Our task is to develop a legal framework that will support a rapid and inclusive development of this ecosystem in the country, as well as attract foreign investment and expertise”, he said.

The Deputy Minister also revealed plans to establish a laboratory on AI at the domestic Innovation and Technology Agency for work on “practical use” of artificial intelligence in “various sectors” of the economy. He said the move aimed to “increase the competitiveness and productivity” of Georgian businesses.
