The Georgian Parliament on Saturday delivered humanitarian supplies, collected by the legislative body for the victims affected by the devastating quake in Turkey, to the country’s Embassy in Georgia.
Necessary products and supplies have been sent to Turkey, with the donations made by deputies and employees of the Parliament to the bank account specially opened for this purpose by the legislative body, the Parliament’s press office said.
By the decision of the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the amount of sum withheld from MPs’ salaries for the absence [in the parliament sessions] without a good reason in December also went to the charity campaign.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday signed a decree on the allocation of ₾1 million ($374,000) from the Government’s reserve fund to deliver medicine, food, clothes, medical equipment, and other necessities for the survivors of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
More than 100 Georgian professionals left for Turkey on Monday and Wednesday, following the PM’s instructions, to ensure aid for the neighbouring country in search and rescue efforts in the aftermath of the latest massive quake.
The latest figures released early on Saturday show over 20,665 people have been killed in Turkey and at least 3,553 in Syria in the disaster so far.
